HOUSEHOLD AND GROCERY ENAMEL SIGNS
During the Victorian era, just before and after the 1900’s, a majority of the population had limited education and many people were illiterate. For this reason advertising featured striking colors and stunning pictorials on signs and packaging in order to attract customers. Victorian advertising signs such as the famous Fry’s 5 Boys Chocolate sign were powerful advertising icons of yesteryear. Hudson’s Soap signs, Keens Mustard signs, Sunlight Soap signs, Cadbury’s Bournville Cocoa signs, Lyons Tea signs, Liptons Tea signs, and Singer Sewing Machine signs are all typical examples of old porcelain signs of the Victorian period. Who could forget the Hudson’s hot air balloon pictorial sign, or the Nestle’s cat pictorial sign – both considered by serious collectors to be the world’s two most valuable investment grade enamel signs.
CIGARETTE AND TOBACCO ADVERTISING SIGNS
With thousands of tobacco companies and brand names throughout the Victorian world, antique advertising signs reflect a kaleidoscope of pipe tobaccos, cigars and cigarette identities. The Players Navy Cut signs were cutting-edge, featuring the first World War themes such as the HMAS Hero and HMAS Invincible. Odgen’s Robin cigarette signs, Black Cat, Crow Bar tobacco signs, Lifeboat Navy Cut, Wills Capstan, Wills Gold Flake, Passing Show cigarette signs are all very collectable signs of yesteryear. And who could forget the Craven ‘A’ cigarette advertising campaign claiming to relieve sore throats.

Rare Australian pub mirrors, Bourgoyne’s Australian wine signs and Emu Burgundy signs are collectors favorites. Australian Toohey’s, Tooth’s and English Mews are just some of the iconic beer signs.
